The proportion of disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs supported
through school action is below average. The proportion supported through school action plus or
with a statement of special educational needs is below average. These include pupils with
moderate learning difficulties, behavioural, social and emotional difficulties and those with
physical needs. There are currently two pupils with a statement of special educational needs.
A higher proportion of pupils than average come from a range of other ethnic backgrounds,
including those of Pakistani, African, Caribbean and Eastern European heritage.
A larger proportion of pupils than average speak English as an additional language. The proportion of pupils for whom the school receives the pupil premium is above the national
average. The pupil premium is additional government funding for pupils known to be eligible for
free school meals, looked after children and children of service families. There are currently no
children of service families at the school.
The school federated with the neighbouring junior school in November 2011. Both schools are
led by an executive headteacher, who took up his post in September 2012. The day-to-day
running of the school is managed by the head of school. There is a single governing body.
