School Description by Ofsted

Information about this school
Broad Oak Primary School is much larger than the average sized primary school. The school provides for children in the early years in the Nursery and Reception classes. Only some of the children who attend the Nursery continue into the Reception Year. About half the children in the Reception Year have not attended the school's nursery.

The proportion of pupils from minority ethnic groups, including those who speak English as an additional language, is much higher than the national average. The proportion of disabled pupils and those with special educational needs supported through school action is average. The proportion supported at school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs is also average.

The proportion of disadvantaged pupils is average. The term `disadvantaged' is used to describe those pupils who are known to be eligible for free school meals and those who are looked after by the local authority. These pupils receive additional support from pupil premium funding.

The school provides a breakfast club, managed by the governing body.

There have been a number of staff changes since the previous inspection.
